Band: Greenland Whalefishers
Greenland Whalefishers have been playing for allmost ten years, they have a sound that is very similar to what the Pogues did on their first two albums and Arvid Grov's voice is very similar to that of Shane Mac Gowan, so much in fact that Mac Gowan once did not even realise that it was not him singing on a record that was played to him on Norweigan radio. They come from Norway's second city of Bergen, which is situated on the west coast of the country. They have toured in the UK, Poland, Italy and Czech Republic and are looking to break into the USA if anyone is willing to give them a chance. If they were Irish or pretending to be Irish I am sure they would be a lot bigger but they are not pretending to be anything, they are just Norweigan's who have a strong love for Irish music and enjoy playing it so why not? They have so far released 5 singles and 3 full length albums, a lot of their early releases are now deleted but you can check the website for avalibility. If you like good irish trad music that is crossed with punk and sounds poguesy without ripping off the band completely then this band is what you have been looking for.
Album(s):
  Down & Out
  Amazing Space (B-sides and other crap)
Band: gardening, not architecture
gardening, not architecture is a musical collaboration between singer/songwriter sarah saturday and producer beau sorenson that started in 2004 with a few songs they recorded in an upstairs hallway in beau's apartment in madison, wisconsin. almost exactly three years later, in march of 2007, the duo rejoined forces to record their first 'official' release: a four-song ep entitled "the first ep."

gardening, not architecture may never tour but will continue to release beautiful songs one-by-one and maintain a 100% DIY/EIY approach as a sort of anthropological experiment in the new frontier of the music industry.
Album(s):
